Established with a focus on key figures of Brazilian modernism, the gallery built its programme around foundational movements from the 1920s onward, later incorporating artists associated with the Santa Helena Group as well as important strands of Concrete and Neo Concrete art and postwar abstraction.<\/p>\n<p>In 1985, the gallery expanded its scope with the creation of a contemporary art department led by Fl\u00e1vio Cohn, strengthening DAN Galeria\u2019s engagement with current Brazilian and international production while maintaining a strong research based approach to historical work.
