The gallery began its exhibition activities in December 2010 at the historic Erasmushaus and expanded in 2016 with a second space at Luftg\u00e4sslein 4, located near the Kunstmuseum Basel and opposite the Antikenmuseum, strengthening its presence within the city\u2019s cultural landscape.<\/p>\n<p>While the gallery\u2019s focus lies primarily on diverse positions from the 20th century, its program also encompasses select 19th century artists, including F\u00e9lix Vallotton, Pierre Puvis de Chavannes, and Vilhelm Hammersh\u00f8i. Galerie Knoell represents artists such as Per Kirkeby, Markus L\u00fcpertz, Meret Oppenheim, Carla Accardi, Louis Soutter, Jannis Kounellis, Raimund Girke, and Maki Na Kamura, with a particular strength in Constructive Art through works by figures including Max Bill, Josef Albers, Sophie Taeuber Arp, and Antonio Calderara.
