Anton Kern Gallery is a New York based gallery founded in 1996 in SoHo. From the outset, it has focused on presenting a diverse roster of emerging and established contemporary artists from the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, and South America. Known for its rigorous exhibition schedule centered on solo presentations, the gallery emphasizes long term artist development and sustained collaboration, supporting many of its artists from early stages through to international recognition and institutional acclaim.
As its program evolved, Anton Kern Gallery relocated first to West 20th Street in Chelsea in 2001 and then to its current location on East 55th Street in Midtown in 2017, providing expanded space for ambitious exhibitions. The gallery’s artists regularly participate in major international exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale, Documenta, the Whitney Biennial, and Skulptur Projekte Münster, while the gallery itself maintains an active global presence through participation in leading art fairs including Art Basel, Frieze, and The Armory Show. Over more than two decades, Anton Kern Gallery has become an influential force in shaping contemporary art discourse through its artist driven approach and consistent curatorial vision.
