Chemould Prescott Road is a pioneering contemporary art gallery in Mumbai whose origins trace back to 1963, when it was founded as Gallery Chemould by Kekoo and Khorshed Gandhy and became one of the first dedicated spaces for modern and contemporary art in India. Initially located on the first floor of the Jehangir Art Gallery, it played a formative role in nurturing generations of Indian artists and shaping the discourse around post independence art through a committed program of exhibitions and long term relationships with artists. In 2007 the gallery moved to its current, more expansive space on Prescott Road, now led by Shireen Gandhy, where it continues to foreground critically engaged practices that reflect on social and political realities in India and beyond, maintaining its reputation as a key platform connecting Mumbai’s artistic community with an international network of institutions, collectors, and curators while honoring a legacy that spans more than six decades.
