Experimenter is a contemporary art gallery founded in 2009 in Kolkata by Prateek and Priyanka Raja, with additional spaces in Kolkata and Mumbai. Since its inception, the gallery has developed a multidisciplinary programme that brings together leading artists from India and around the world, positioning itself as an important platform for critical and discursive contemporary practice in the region.

Experimenter’s activities extend beyond exhibitions to include talks, performances, workshops, and the annual Experimenter Curators’ Hub, fostering dialogue, debate, and knowledge production. The gallery expanded with a second space in 2018 and opened Experimenter Colaba in Mumbai in 2022, strengthening its regional presence. Through initiatives such as artist book publishing, the Experimenter Learning Program, off site projects under Experimenter Outpost, and the digital platform Experimenter Labs, the gallery integrates exhibition making with educational and online programming, contributing to a dynamic and internationally engaged contemporary art ecosystem.
