Wuhan, 430060 China Get Directions
The Fine Arts Literature Art Center is a contemporary art institution established in 2003 in Wuhan, originating from the influential magazine Fine Arts Literature. As the city’s first institution dedicated to contemporary art, it is closely connected to the legacy of the 1980s New Wave Art Movement, which played a formative role in the emergence of contemporary art in China. From its inception, the center has positioned itself as a platform for artistic experimentation, critical discussion, and institutional development within the local context.
The center’s activities encompass exhibitions, collection building, support for young and experimental artists, academic research, and the publication of art related literature. Alongside its focus on contemporary practice, it maintains an interest in art archives and the collection of Chinese classical antiques as well as significant contemporary works. Through non profit public programs including academic lectures and artwork appreciation events, the Fine Arts Literature Art Center continues to contribute to the cultural life of Wuhan while supporting the ongoing development of contemporary art in China.
