Galerie Knoell, Basel 2

Galerie Knoell is a Basel based gallery whose program centers on 20th century art, with an emphasis on artistic independence, sincerity, and enduring relevance. The gallery began its exhibition activities in December 2010 at the historic Erasmushaus and expanded in 2016 with a second space at Luftgässlein 4, located near the Kunstmuseum Basel and opposite the Antikenmuseum, strengthening its presence within the city’s cultural landscape.

While the gallery’s focus lies primarily on diverse positions from the 20th century, its program also encompasses select 19th century artists, including Félix Vallotton, Pierre Puvis de Chavannes, and Vilhelm Hammershøi. Galerie Knoell represents artists such as Per Kirkeby, Markus Lüpertz, Meret Oppenheim, Carla Accardi, Louis Soutter, Jannis Kounellis, Raimund Girke, and Maki Na Kamura, with a particular strength in Constructive Art through works by figures including Max Bill, Josef Albers, Sophie Taeuber Arp, and Antonio Calderara. Since 2018, the gallery has regularly participated in international art fairs, extending its program to a broader global audience.
