Galerie Martin Janda is a contemporary art gallery in Vienna founded by Martin Janda in 1992, originally conceived as an alternative exhibition space. Over the following years, its activities expanded into a full gallery program, and in October 1999 it relocated to its current premises at Eschenbachgasse 11 in central Vienna. Situated near key cultural institutions such as the Wiener Secession, the Academy of Fine Arts, the Kunsthistorisches Museum, and the MuseumsQuartier, the gallery became part of a closely connected hub for contemporary art and critical discussion alongside several other established galleries.
The gallery’s program is dedicated to international contemporary art, encompassing conceptual practices as well as painting, drawing, film and video, photography, sculpture, and installation. It places particular emphasis on artistic positions that combine diverse experiences and approaches, often developing through long term collaboration. Galerie Martin Janda is known for its sustained commitment to artists, many of whom it has supported well before achieving broader international recognition, reflecting a program built on continuity, experimentation, and careful artistic development.
