Hauser & Wirth is an international art gallery founded in 1992 in Zurich by Iwan and Manuela Wirth together with Ursula Hauser, later joined by partner and president Marc Payot. Family run in structure, the gallery has developed into a global network with spaces across Europe, the United States, and Asia, including locations in Zurich, Basel, London, Somerset, St. Moritz, Los Angeles, New York, Hong Kong, and Paris, where a new space opened in 2023. From its earliest exhibitions, the gallery has positioned itself around sustained engagement with artists and the presentation of ambitious, research driven projects.
Representing more than ninety artists and estates, Hauser & Wirth is recognized for its long term stewardship of both contemporary practices and historically significant figures. Its program combines museum quality exhibitions with education, conservation, publishing, and sustainability initiatives, often developed in collaboration with leading curators and institutions. Alongside contemporary artists, the gallery plays a key role in caring for major twentieth century estates, including Louise Bourgeois, Philip Guston, Eva Hesse, Mike Kelley, Dieter Roth, and David Smith, reinforcing its reputation for academic rigor and comprehensive support of artistic legacies.
