Konrad Fischer Galerie was founded in 1967 in Düsseldorf by Konrad and Dorothee Fischer and is widely recognized for its pioneering role in introducing Minimal and Conceptual Art to Europe. The gallery was among the first to give European solo exhibitions to artists such as Carl Andre, Sol LeWitt, Bruce Nauman, Richard Long, and On Kawara, and became known for inviting artists to develop and present works on site. Through this approach, it helped shape the reception of site specific and conceptual practices, while also engaging with key figures in Arte Povera, photography, and contemporary painting.
Over the decades, the gallery has developed an intergenerational program that maintains an active dialogue between historical positions and contemporary artistic practices. In 2007, Konrad Fischer Galerie expanded with the opening of a second space in Berlin, located in a former power station in Berlin Mitte and now directed by Berta Fischer. Alongside its presence in Düsseldorf and international activities including Los Angeles, the gallery continues to present exhibitions that reflect more than five decades of artistic exchange and critical engagement.
