Martine Aboucaya
Paris, 75003 France Get Directions
Founded in 2005 in Paris’s Le Marais with an inaugural exhibition by filmmaker Agnès Varda, Martine Aboucaya is a gallery dedicated to international contemporary artists whose practices are closely tied to writing, research, and narrative. Its exhibition program foregrounds deeply personal projects that build bridges between conceptual art and related fields such as cinema, architecture, poetry, music, and performance, grounded in an ongoing search for poetic experimentation. Focusing on thinking processes, language, and the evocative power of simple gestures, the gallery treats exhibitions as reflective spaces where works and ideas intertwine, fostering a thoughtful and subtly militant stance that questions present-day contexts. Alongside exhibitions, the gallery also organizes meetings, conferences, and readings, and publishes limited editions, artist’s books, and poetry.
